''WELCOME THE NEW YORK LIBERTY TO NEWARK'' EVENT
ON THURSDAY, MAY 19 AT 11AM AT PRUDENTIAL CENTER
NEW YORK, NY- May 16, 2011 - The New York Liberty, Prudential Center and the City of Newark are hosting a special ''Welcome the Liberty to Newark'' event at the Prudential Center on Thursday, May 19 beginning at 11:00 a.m. The event will be free and open to the public and include opportunity for fans to meet the team, receive autographs and additional Liberty giveaways, and enjoy a free lunch.
A press conference will begin at 11:00 a.m. with featured guest speakers Mayor Cory Booker, Prudential Center Chairman and Managing Partner Jeff Vanderbeek, MSG Sports President Scott O'Neil, and Liberty Head Coach and General Manager John Whisenant. A number of other New Jersey dignitaries and elected officials will also be in attendance. Following the press conference there will be a special game of ''one-on-one'' between Mayor Cory Booker and Liberty star Cappie Pondexter as well as a shoot around and photo opportunity with all dignitaries present. The entire 2011 Liberty training camp team will then be available for interviews.

The Liberty plays its first preseason game on Wednesday, May 25 at Prudential Center against the Washington Mystics. The team's regular season home opener is on Saturday, June 11 against the Indiana Fever.
