New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center Season of Giving Raising Over $1Million in Donations for New Jersey Charities
Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center are proud to be a part of the New Jersey community, and take pride in rallying the organization with our fans and partners to help those in need. Through 8 events, the 'Season of Giving' raised more than $1.1 million in donations by the Devils and Prudential Center, and the tremendous support of fan-driven donation drives, community holiday experiences, and donations through Devils Care.
2013 SEASON OF GIVING BY THE NUMBERS

21,000 pounds of food for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey
3,000 coats for Jersey Cares
3,000 toys for Toys for Tots and the US Marine Corps
250 hours spent with youth organizations
''It is inspiring to see the care and compassion that our fans have for their community,'' said Devils and Prudential Center President Hugh Weber. ''We have the unique opportunity to mobilize a passionate group among our organization, fans and partners, and really make an impact during this holiday season.''
The Season of Giving began with annual donation nights that have become a Devils holiday tradition. This year's donation drives brought in over 21,000 pounds of food during the annual Food Drive (November 15 vs. Los Angeles) for Community Food Bank of New Jersey, four times the largest amount that has been raised in past collections. Over 3,000 coats were collected for Jersey Cares during the Coat Drive (November 30 vs. Buffalo), while more than 3,000 toys were collected for Toys for Tots and the US Marine Corps during this week's Toy Drive (December 18 vs. Ottawa).
Earlier this week, the Devils and Prudential Center hosted Spark Academy at the Rock, providing the fourth grade students a true magical holiday experience, complete with a tour of the Rock, ice skating, games, visits from NJ Devil and holiday gifts.
Smiles were the best medicine during the Devils annual visits to eight local area hospitals with players making stops at pediatric wards, spending time with the children and bringing Devils gifts to those who aren't able to be home for the holidays.
More than $1.1 million has been raised in monetary, and hockey and entertainment tickets donations to local families in need, community groups and non-profit organizations. Donations were made from Devils Care, the charitable foundation of the arena and team, through this season as well. Over $60,000 was given to the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund, the project founded by New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat Christie, while $5,000 was presented to the Newark Public Schools Visual and Entertainment Arts Program. This donation serves as a commitment to the local community and to the school system with plans to grow this relationship further in 2014.
