The New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights battled in two close games during the 2022-23 NHL season. Their game on March 3 resulted in a Devils shoot out loss to the Golden Knights.
Their matchup on January 24 was a nail biter until the very end of regulation, when Dougie Hamilton scored a game tying goal with only 70 seconds left, forcing overtime play. Poetically, it was Hamilton who sunk the OT game-winning goal against the Knights on their home ice.
In the 2023-24 season, the Devils hosted the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Golden Knights on January 22, winning in overtime. Tyler Toffoli recorded a hat trick, with his third goal being the overtime game winner! Their final matchup of the regular season was March 17 in Vegas, resulting in a 3-1 Golden Knights win.
