Upwards of 650,000 people in New Jersey face hunger every day. As stewards of our community, Citizens and the New Jersey Devils are in a unique position to impact where we live, work and play. With that in mind, we launched Food Forward Jersey presented by Citizens to provide meals and assistance to our neighbors in need through the (3) verticals outlined below.
In partnership with our concessionaire, Levy, we setup a safe and efficient process with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to pick up and distribute pre-cooked meals collected from Devils games & select events for distribution to local community partners on a recurring basis throughout the season, providing an infusion of prepared food for our neighbors in need.
Devils and Citizens employees have committed to regular volunteer efforts with CFBNJ and their community partners.
Each year Food Forward Jersey provides a $10,000 donation to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey for use toward equipment, programming and assisting their community partners.
“I first got involved with food insecurity when I was playing in Detroit and it’s an area my wife and I want to continue to help. No person, especially no child, should go to bed hungry. We have the means to help out and with this program, we hope to continue to do so.”
