This year Newark added to its successful outdoor winter festival by adding an ice skating rink. Newark Winter village is located across the Prudential Center in Mulberry Commons Park. In addition to ice skating, food is available for purchase with the free hot cocoa available. There is also a holiday marketplace in the Ironside Newark building across the street and in the park there are games like curling.Heated private pods or igloos are available for rent for two-hour blocks. Reservations are needed for skating and pod and igloo rentals and can be found online here. Newark residents receive a discount on all their rentals.
Newark Recreation Manager Obalaji Baraka claims that “There is no need for local residents to go to Rockefeller Center or Bryant Park to go ice skating. People can come and get free cocoa and stay in Newark.”
Quatisha Bronson claims that the festival is a beautiful event and that it “Is a fun and great way to celebrate all the positive things that are happening in town.”
The Prudential Center trademark and logos are used under license from The Prudential Insurance Company of America, a subsidiary of Prudential Financial, Inc., headquartered in the USA, neither of which is affiliated with Prudential plc, a company headquartered in the United Kingdom.
