The New Jersey Devils have collected five Eastern Conference Championships since relocating from Colorado in 1982, the third of which came in the 2000-01 season. The team eventually fell to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals in 7 games despite stellar performances from stars like Patrick Elias, Peter Sykora, and Scott Gomez.
In recent years, the Devils have bested the Avalanche in 3 of their last 4 matchups, winning both games during the 2022-23 season. During the 2023-24 season, the two teams split their season series with one win each.
In the 2024-25 season, the Devils face the Avalanche in two games, the first at home in Newark on December 8. The Devils travel to Colorado for their second matchup on February 26.
