The New Jersey Devils have battled the Toronto Maple Leafs on the ice since the 1970s. The Devils have gotten the best of Toronto in the postseason, holding an 8-5 advantage. In the 2000 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, New Jersey beat the Maple Leafs in seven games and would go on to appear in that year's Stanley Cup Final.
In a battle of Eastern Conference powerhouses, the Maple Leafs and Devils faced off in three games during the 2024-25 season. The Maple Leafs swept the Devils, with two of the three games ending in overtime.
During the 2025-26 season, the Devils once again play the Maple Leafs in three games. The Original Six team hosts the Devils for the first two games in October and December followed by a New Jersey-Toronto matchup in Newark on March 4.
